We are currently experiencing problems with usa7-vn and it may need to be reinstalled. I’ll post updates here as they come.
UPDATE (14:04): The server is back online, but I’m still thinking about reinstalling it so I’ll update this post when the time comes.
UPDATE (14:10): Packet loss is back, the issue is being worked on.
UPDATE (14:39): The issue is fully resolved and the server doesn’t need reinstalling. I had noticed some code was being injected into some pages before the network went down, but this was caused by another machine on the network spoofing the router gateway and injecting code. Our server hasn’t been compromised at all which was my main concern.
There is a minor glitch with the directory and toolbar which is resulting in stations being listed multiple times. This will be fixed soon, I have an idea of what’s causing it.
Anyone trying to log in at http://mixstream.net/?page=Login to get onto the value network may have seen a blank screen after logging in. This was caused by apache crashing on one of the servers (usa3-vn).
This has now been resolved. After investigation, I have found that no streams were affected by this in any way.
In relation to the previous post, the outage was caused by power loss that was experienced at BlueSquare datacentre. This affected uk2-pn stream server as well as one of out DNS servers so a small number of people may have experienced outages on the website due to lack of DNS (including websites of customers that use ns2.thisdns.net as one of their nameservers.
All is back to normal now.
For some reason, uk2-pn restarted itself today. The server had previously been online for almost 2 years with no problems so this came as quite a surprise. The server is now back online and I am looking in to the cause of the outage.
UPDATE: This was caused by a short power interruption.
The StationFinder.org toolbar has been updated, and now includes more radio streams, better searching option and more genres to choose from.
You can download the toolbar completely free of charge from http://stationfinder.ourtoolbar.com/
Any comments or suggestions are very welcome, please submit and feedback or requests at http://stationfinder.org/toolbar/feedback.php – please note that although we do appreciate all feedback, you will not get a personal reply if you don’t include your email address – no personal data is submitted with the form.
The toolbar is and will remain an ongoing project.
The customer directory at stationfinder.org has been revamped. It now includes freestreamhosting customers and I’m considering putting a form on there so anyone can submit their stream.
The s2 server on our free shoutcast service seems to have died and we can’t reboot is properly. The data has been recovered and it will be installed over the next few hours.
UPDATE (19:57): Working now.
I will be performing an update on the systems used for stopping/starting streams today. All shoutcast streams will need restarting, but this will only cause a few seconds of downtime and then the servers will come back up automatically.
This is intended to resolve any issues with servers randomly stopping as reported by a small number of customers.
The restarts will be performed over the next few hours.
UPDATE: This is now complete on all servers apart from USA3-VN which needs some more work before the change can be made. Updates will be posted here on any maintenance. This will be within the next week.
