The work described in the last post is now complete, 6 transcoders have been moved to a new server (usa1-trans) and this has freed up resources on the original server. There should be no more issues with the control panel.
The transcoding server is running a little slow at the moment, we’ve had no complaints of audio problems but you may find that the control panel is slow for transcoders.
I’ll work on this by setting up a new server for the transcoders and transferring a few over – this will cause a short outage of a few seconds which will just cause a skip in the audio for the moved transcoders.
s5 will need reinstalling as it it not booting up after crashing. We expect to recover all data from the server so accounts should not be lost. This will be done in the next few hours.
Network maintenance – Denver – 6/18/2010
maintenance window – 3AM through 9AM BST
We will be performing a network maintenance to address the issues experienced last week.
The maintenance will consist of
- replacing a router with defective backplane
- adding new core router
- upgrading uplinks on our distribution switches from GigE to 10GE
- adding new aggregate switches
- changes to the internal network topology
We do not expect any extended network downtime however there may be intermittent connectivity drops while we move some of the uplinks
Due to the recent network issues, the datacentre are performing emergency maintenance on the network today. We have no estimate on how long it will take.
Thank you for your patience. This should put an end to the recent problems with usa8-vn
The server is back online, downtime was about 20 minutes
The datacentre that hosts usa8-vn is experiencing problems. Updates will be posted here.
usa8-vn will be rebooted shortly due to a configuration change.
