This category is for web hosting customers that are on the new ‘UK1′ server. If you are in any way unsure about which server you are hosted on then you’re welcome to open a support ticket.
The server EU1 has just come back on after a reboot. The outage was for a couple of minutes, after some time of slowness. We are investigating the cause.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the downtime on EU1, this is being worked on and we expect the server to be back online as normal soon.
Due to apparent ioncube compatibility issues with PHP 5.3, PHP has been downgraded to 5.2 until ioncube bring out suitable loaders.
We have updated the server eu1.5net.co.uk to the latest version of cPanel and PHP. Some customers with outdated PHP code may find some errors regarding deprecated functions – these errors are turned on by default on PHP 5.3, however we will be making changes to remove the error reporting later tonight so they will disappear.
We recommend that all customers ensure that their scripts are up to date.
After noticing some slowness on connections to the eu1 server, I found that one IP in particular was opening up lots of connections. I’ve blocked the IP and the server is now stable.
In relation to the previous post, the outage was caused by power loss that was experienced at BlueSquare datacentre. This affected uk2-pn stream server as well as one of out DNS servers so a small number of people may have experienced outages on the website due to lack of DNS (including websites of customers that use ns2.thisdns.net as one of their nameservers.
All is back to normal now.
The web server EU1 is being rebooted after some changes that have been made. It should be back on within minutes.
Action has been taken to remove the script that was hogging CPU resources on the web hosting server (eu1.5net.co.uk). I’ll keep an eye on things to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.
A customer on the server seems to have been hosting a script that was severely overloading the CPU. The offending file has been removed.
This doesn’t seem to have affected user websites very much but we do take steps to remove any files that use up unfair resources.
